About Me
Hello, fellow writers! My name is Shanthi (shahn-tee), and I am a passionate editor, avid reader, and enthusiastic writer from Australia. My passion for books and storytelling stretches far beyond my professional work as an editor. You'll never find me without a book in my hand, and in my spare time, when I'm not reading or writing stories of my own, I'll be critically deconstructing brilliant novels to see how the author achieved such a compelling story. To bring my literary obsession full circle, I have also been a traditional bookbinder for eight years and am continuing to further my skill in this dying craft, while also extending my practice to include book restoration and repair.
I have over four years of experience in writing, editing, and publishing from both my academic studies and working with private clients. During my time at Elephant Page Publishing as an Editorial Associate, I worked with upcoming Australian authors, copyediting and structurally editing a range of manuscripts, from historical crime novels to children's books. I also worked with the appraisal team to write structural reports for new submissions. I am also an Associate member of The Institute of Professional Editors Limited (IPEd), the professional association for Australian and New Zealand editors.
As a professional editor, I strive to put your manuscript first and be as objective as possible to help you achieve the best outcome. Your story matters, and it's my goal to help strengthen your creative vision, your way.

Writing, as with editing and all the various fields within the creative arts, is subjective. My advice as an editor is not the final verdict, and nor is it my job to tell you what should be changed and exactly how to do it. My job is to help you discover the best solutions for the tricky problems lurking within your manuscript. Editing is a collaboration that should be approached with empathy, open-mindedness, and a healthy dose of curiosity. I will help foster your creativity and enhance your voice to help you achieve your vision.
