Developmental Editing
Developmental editing, also known as structural editing, is the first stage in the editorial process, preceding copyediting and proofreading. It will comprehensively evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript and look at the overall development of your story, paying attention to key aspects such as: pacing, characterisation, plot, structure, voice, tone, conflict, point of view, and much more.
Feedback is given in the form of a detailed structural report – over 2,000 words – and in-text line edits within your manuscript where I will address issues on a scene-by-scene basis. While I am not a copyeditor, I will also highlight some of the major grammar and punctuation errors I see, especially if they are recurring. ​
The turnaround is generally within 4-6 weeks, depending on the length of your manuscript and the number of projects I already have scheduled.

Manuscript Assessment
A Manuscript Assessment is a 'light' developmental edit that broadly highlights the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript, paying attention to key aspects such as: pacing, characterisation, plot, structure, voice, tone, conflict, and point of view.
Feedback is given in the form of a report – under 2,000 words – and although there will be no in-text line edits, page numbers within the manuscript will be referenced so the author can better locate the section/s in question.
